“I’m excited by this new vegan range. The presence of specific amino acids, ashwagandha (known for its mood-enhancing properties), and a dose of iodine (good for cognitive function) means I’m hoping this will help lift the January/peri-menopausal fog and provide clarity of thought, as well as healthy skin.”

Founder of Planet Organic
Chicory Root Inulin
Soluble fibre is an important food source for the diverse numbers of friendly microbes that naturally reside in the gut microbiome.
Our organic inulin is sourced form chicory root and has a light, sweet and subtle malty flavour that helps satisfy those afternoon sweet tooth cravings.
Also, being a source of fibre, inulin also helps to keep you feeling fuller for longer – so it’s a win-win ingredient!
One of the main ingredients found in all three of our vegan Collagyn range is a new chickpea protein powder that’s incredibly nutritious.
When it comes to vegan and plant-based nutrition, chickpeas provide a wide range of amnio acids including essential amino acids which are often hard to find on a predominately plant diet.
With plant-based nutrition in mind, we combine this chickpea protein powder with brown rice and pea protein powders to provide a more comprehensive range of amino acids.
This chickpea protein provides a milky and creamy in texture to our vegan Collagyn blends and you can find this innovative protein powder in our Naked Collagyn , Inspired Collagyn and Radiant Collagyn.
Collagen Specific Amino Acids
Collagen is an important structural protein providing strength and integrity to numerous body tissues including skin, bones, cartilage, blood vessel walls, ligaments, tendons and connective tissues.
There are many different types of collagen all formed around 17 different amino acids with the main composition of collagen being formed from five key amino acids - glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, arginine and alanine.
Also known as Indian ginseng this botanical is native to North Africa and India. It has been used for over 3000 years as one of the most important herbs in Ayurvedic medicine.
The Sanskrit translation of ashwagandha is ‘smell of the horse’ which refers to its ancient belief of supporting energy, endurance and strength.
In the West, ashwagandha is known as an adaptogen which helps build resilience to stress. These benefits are thought to be attributed to bioactive compounds naturally present in ashwagandha called withanolides.
As for taste, ashwagandha has a sweet, nutty, malty taste which adds a real comfort factor to our Inspired Collagyn. It is one of our favourites and you can also find organic ashwagandha in our Coffee + Collagen and Cacao + Collagen.
Originating from Indonesia and China, cinnamon is a tree bark and has been important both as a culinary spice and as an Ayurvedic botanical for centuries.
Researchers are uncovering how this aromatic spice may help support the mechanism that help regulate blood sugar balance and its natural sweetness helps reduce the need for added sugar.
There is something incredibly comforting about the naturally sweet flavour and aroma of this beautiful spice and for this reason, we’ve included our beautiful organic cinnamon to Cacao + Collagen and Inspired Collagyn
Our organic Hebridean seaweed is sustainably wild-harvested around the remote islands of the Scottish Outer Hebrides.
These pristine waters are carefully monitored and managed, with exclusive harvesting rights from the Crown Estate.
The harvested seaweed is carefully dried, gently processed and milled into a nutritious, flavourless ingredient containing a variety of minerals including iodine to help support normal cognitive, thyroid, nervous system and skin function and contribute to normal energy-yielding metabolism.
Traditionally an Indian spice native to Kerala’s evergreen rain forests, cardamom is highly aromatic and has a gentle fragrant woody and citrusy flavour that lifts the senses and helps to clear the mind.
Cardamom has long been a hero ingredient in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine as it contains a handful of minerals plus vitamins B2, B3 and C alongside a plethora of bioactive compounds including flavanols and polyphenols.
Organic cardamom is one of five delicious Ayurvedic spices found in our Inspired Collagyn alongside cinnamon, turmeric, black pepper and ginger.
The world has fallen in love with this golden spice. Turmeric comes from the rhizome of a plant in the ginger family.
Hailed as one of the most powerful botanicals in the world with a multitude of health benefits this rich spice had been used for thousands of years in Ayurvedic medicine.
The highly regarded active compound found in turmeric is called curcumin which is currently at the centre of many exciting scientific research studies.
With its aromatic, warm, peppery, soothing and comforting flavour this cheerful botanical can be found in our Inspired Collagyn.
Not all vitamin C’s are created equal. The most common version of vitamin C, called ascorbic acid, has a very low absorption rate and often triggers digestive disturbance.
So we formulate our products with a gentle on the gut, buffered form of vitamin C called magnesium ascorbate which has far superior absorption than standard ascorbic acid.
Magnesium ascorbate is one of our most important ingredients in terms of health benefits, daily wellbeing, collagen renewal and supporting skin cell protection.
MCT (Medium Chain Triglycerides)
MCT’s are readily utilised for cellular energy production and easily convert into ketones which may provide an alternative energy source for brain cells.
Rest assured our True MCT oil is sustainably sourced 100% from coconuts, never from palm oil, and is extracted using pure steamed distillation and gentle hydrolysis to contain C8 (60%) and C10 (40%).
A clear, odourless, and tasteless oil to easily fuel-up your day. A popular Brave Recipe is the morning ritual of adding True MCT to your morning coffee (or tea) for an invigorating start to the day.
Pea protein is sourced from yellow split peas which have been cultivated for food for thousands of years.
We use a special 80% pea protein which removes more of the fats and carbs in order to provide a concentrate diverse range of amino acids found in this plant protein.
We choose this source of protein over whey or soy proteins due to health (both are common allergens) and environmental reasons.
Brown Rice Protein
Rice protein is a great source of gluten-free, dairy-free, low carb and low fat protein which contains a wide range of amino acids and essential amino acids.
For those focusing on body conditioning, protein powders are likely to become a key part of your fitness strategy and if you’re following a plant-based diet then a daily source of essential amino acids is key for vegan wellbeing.
Our rice protein comes from wholegrain rice and has a very mild, nutty, naturally sweet flavour. We combine rice, pea and chickpea proteins in our Naked Collagyn, Inspired Collagyn and Radiant Collagyn for a more complete protein package.
Native to south-east Asia, ginger has been used a powerful botanical in Ayurvedic medicine for years.
The health benefits of ginger are mainly attributed to a natural compound called gingerols present in the oily resin found in the root.
Ginger is also helpful for easing nausea associated with travel and morning sickness and it bring a gentle level of chilli style heat to our Inspired Collagyn.
Ginger also delivers a beautiful complex aromatic flavour that compliments cinnamon, cardamom, turmeric and black pepper in our Inspired Collagyn.
Since ancient times black pepper is one of the most widely traded spices in the world. Sought after for its fiery flavour, black pepper is native to Kerala in India and is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine.
The nutritional profile of this little spicy gem includes manganese, iron and vitamin K but it’s the 5% presence of piperine that’s grabbed our attention.
Piperine provides a helping hand for the absorption of curcumin, the active compound found in turmeric, which is why we’ve paired up black pepper with turmeric in our Inspired Collagyn.
White Tea Extract
White tea retains the highest level of polyphenols and catechins including epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) compared to green and black tea.
Skin ageing occurs due to internal and external factors which damage skin cells, disrupt elastin and collagen and affect skin tone and elasticity.
The bioactive compounds present in white tea help protect skin cells from the harmful effects of oxidative stress generated by free radicals, UV rays and common pollutants.
Vegan Vitamin D
Vitamin D is made by skin cells when exposed to sunlight but national studies across many European countries, indicate that deficiencies in vitamin D are commonplace.
Vitamin D is naturally found in meat, fish and dairy products making this vitamin hard to find when following a plant-based diet.
This vital vitamin is important for supporting normal bone health, immune and muscle function.
Add 2 tsp (10g) to a small amount of hot water and mix into paste then top up with 150ml of hot plant mylk, milk or water and enjoy.
WHAT EXTRAS DO THE VEGAN BLENDS CONTAIN?
We have blended each of our vegan collagyn products with specific botanicals with benefits aimed at brain, body and beauty and tailored the flavours. You can choose based on your health goals, however each blend supports the body holistically with wide ranging benefits.
The Vegan Collagyn range all provide plant-based sources of the main amino acids that are naturally present in collagen (glycine, proline, hydroxyproline) ensuring collagen renewal, whilst also containing specific nutrients that are hard to obtain from a vegan diet including vitamin D, iodine and choline.
Other nutrients that are also key for skin health and collagen renewal including vitamin C are also included.
The botanicals are all well studied and used for their anti-inflammatory or antioxidant properties.
IS VEGAN COLLAGYN ORGANIC?
Each of the Vegan Collagyn products contain certified organic pea and brown rice protein powders and wild harvested organic Hebridean seaweed. Our chickpea protein powder is currently going through the organic certification process.
Additionally, Radiant Collagyn contains organic certified beetroot and Inspired Collagyn contains certified organic turmeric, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and black pepper.
However, because the Vegan Collagyn products are classed as nutritional supplements since they contain added nutrients such as vitamin D, vitamin C, choline, L-glycine, L-proline, L-hydroxyproline, L-alanine, L-arginine then we are unable to register them with the Soil Association for certification.
Whether or not they are organic we always strive to find the best quality ingredients, as sustainably sourced and most bioavailable possible.
HOW DOES VEGAN COLLAGYN COMPARE TO TRUE COLLAGEN?
The long amino acid chains that form the polypeptides found within the large collagen molecule are mainly formed from just 5 key amnio acids – glycine, proline, hydroxyproline, arginine and alanine. Instead of using bovine hydrolysed collagen peptides the Vegan Collagyn range contains generous amounts of all 5 of these amino acids, from vegan and fermented sources (except glycine which is vegan sourced) alongside vitamin C a key cofactor for the enzymes which build new collagen molecules.
The Vegan Collagyn products are a targeted nutritional supplement providing vegan sources of the main amino acids that are naturally present in collagen (glycine, proline, hydroxyproline), whilst also containing specific nutrients that are hard to obtain from a vegan diet including vitamin D and choline. The Vegan Collagyn range also contains nutrients that are key for skin health and collagen renewal including vitamin C and iodine (present from seaweed).
If you are not following a vegan diet and you love our True Collagen, Coffee + Collagen and Cacao + Collagen then you can still continue with these products if you like and you could also add in the Vegan Collagyn of your choice and benefit from all those skin nourishing free amino acids, vitamins and minerals.
WHICH VEGAN COLLAGEN SHOULD I TAKE?
All of the blends benefit collagen renewal aswell as containing Vitamin D, choline and iodine - nutrients difficult to obtain on a vegan diet. On top of this you may want to consider:
For BODY - choose NAKED - with it’s unique blend of MCT, MSM, glucosamine which support sporty and active lifestyles and recovery.
For BRAIN - choose INSPIRED - with adaptogenic ashwagandha, cognitive supporting botanicals such as turmeric + ginger and MCT to provide energy to the brain this blend
is perfect for stressful and busy lifestyles and optimal mindful wellbeing.
For BEAUTY - choose RADIANT - This delicious berry + beetroot blend is perfect for indulgent and urban lifestyles, to help protect cells from oxidative stress and deeply nourish your skin from within.
HOW DO YOU RECOMMEND USING VEGAN COLLAGYN
There are many ways to use our blends!
They taste delicious when made with hot mylk or milk. The ideal way to take this would be to blend 10g with a small amount of hot water (or hot milk/mylk) to make a paste and then top up with 100-150ml hot mylk or milk.
Another popular method is to simply add 10g (2 teaspoons) to a smoothie of your choice.
To use in food you may want to add the powders to overnight oats, yogurt or chia pudding.
ARE VEGAN COLLAGYN PRODUCTS SUITABLE TO TAKE WHILST FASTING?
In a nutshell - YES! Our Vegan Collagyn range has been designed to be part of our Brave Method which cleverly supports many of the different forms of Intermittent Fasting, Time Restricted Eating and Ketogenic Diets that are so popular today.
During your fasting window - consuming no more than 50 kcal is unlikely to interfere with your fast. The Vegan Collagyn range all contain less than 36 kcal per 10g serving when made with hot water. If you are finding the last couple of hours of your fasting window a little challenging or if you are looking for a nutritious vegan hot beverage to help kick start your day without offsetting all your overnight fasting efforts, then the Vegan Collagyn products are there to support you.
I HAVE A COLD SORE, SHOULD I AVOID THIS PRODUCT?
This question often refers to the amino acid Arginine. Whilst this amazing amino acid is responsible for increasing blood flow and improving brain health, the herpes simplex virus, (which causes cold sores), requires arginine to replicate in your body. Depriving the virus of arginine may reduce the duration and severity of an outbreak. You can then return to using the product once your symptoms are cleared.
ARE VEGAN COLLAGYN BLENDS KETO FRIENDLY?
Yes! If your keto protocol requires restricting total carbs to no more than 20g a day, then the Vegan Collagyn products are completely suitable to help sustain you in-between meals or to reach for as a protein snack choice.. Alternatively during your eating window, you could make the Vegan Collagyn products with milk or plant mylk for a comforting and luxurious drink.
